Craig Monsue is Dickson County’s General Sessions Judge. He was elected in August of 2014 for his 1st eight year term.

Barbara Spann was elected General Sessions Court Clerk in August, 2010 after being appointed in 1991 by private act, having previously served in the General Sessions Court as Deputy Clerk and Bookkeeper. She was re-elected for another four year term in August, 2014. She is married to Mike Spann and has three children; Andrea, Aaron and Alex Spann.

Duties of the Court Clerk

The Dickson County General Sessions Court is a lower court established in 1957 by private act for Dickson County, Tennessee.

The six Judicial Commissioners for Dickson County are recommended by the General Sessions Judge and approved by the Dickson County Commission, establishing a system for criminal warrants to be issued 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.

The Dickson County General Sessions Court serves the following entities as well as others: Dickson County Sheriff’s Office; Department of Safety Troopers; Judicial Drug Task Force; TWRA; Department of Conservation, Tennessee ABC; TBI; Burns City Officers; Cities of Charlotte and Vanleer.

The Dickson County General Sessions Court is in regular weekly session each Tuesday for traffic court with docket call at 10:00 a.m. for the purpose of guilty pleas and proof of violations as stated on tickets. Violation of probation hearings are held on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. Civil Court is held on Wednesdays with docket call at 10:00 a.m. If you have questions, please contact our office.

The court clerk files and manages the court files and dockets for both Criminal and Civil (limited jurisdiction) cases. Other duties include attending court session, administering oaths, and retaining, preserving and filing all papers.
